The Long Beach summer concert series is in its 98th year, and I always look forward to this music in the park. The early evening concerts at Eldorado Park began this year on August 29. I join a few friends (or maybe make a new friend or two there), bring picnic food and wine, then kick back in the shade under the trees while listening to some great live music. Lots of people of every age bring their folding chairs to create a good, old-fashioned community spirit. Perhaps the most popular concert comes at the end of the season, when the Elm Street Band plays oldies. Did I mention that attendance at all of the concerts is absolutely free?!?
